Ahead of his first match as Tottenham Hotspur’s interim manager, Cristian Stellini has discussed his ambitions of becoming a manager and how Spurs fit into that.

Stellini has been installed as caretaker manager at Tottenham after Antonio Conte departed the club last weekend.

He will oversee the Spurs first team for the next ten games, with help from Ryan Mason.

This is not the first time Stellini has been in charge of the Lilywhites this season. The 48-year-old stepped up when Conte was back in Italy recovering from surgery earlier this year, and managed to secure big results against Manchester City, West Ham, and Chelsea.

It has been suggested that Stellini has ‘no chance’ of bagging the job on a permanent basis (The View from The Lane Podcast).

Nevertheless, he will be given the chance to prove himself now until the end of the season.

Stellini has experience as a manager previously during his time in Italy, where he coached Genoa’s U19 side and Serie C team Alessandria Calcio.

He has even described the idea of being a manager again as a ‘dream’ in a press conference earlier this season (Football.London).

Now, he has been asked about his plans for the future and whether this opportunity with Spurs is the next step to becoming a manager once more.

He told Football.London: “It’s the next step to work hard for the next 10 games.

“Nothing has to change in my mind. I’m not here for vanity. I’m here to help this club.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Who knows what will happen for Stellini now? I’m sure, at the start of the season, Stellini never imagined he would become the manager of Tottenham.

But, if he does a good job in these next ten games it could open up a range of possibilities for him, either at Spurs or elsewhere.
