Harry Redknapp has urged Tottenham Hotspur to bring Luka Modric back to the club in the summer, insisting that the midfielder would add a lot to the squad despite being in the twilight of his career.
It was under Redknapp that Modric exploded at Spurs and evolved into one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, with the English coach first employing the Croat off the left before moving him into central midfield.

He has not looked back since leaving North London to join Real Madrid in 2012, having been a key part of five Champions League-winning sides at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Modric will undoubtedly go down as one of Real Madrid’s greatest players of all time but his future at the club is in doubt, with his current contract running out in June (Transfermarkt).
Redknapp urged the Lilywhites to snap up the 37-year-old if he does not renew his contract in Madrid, opining that he would help them keep hold of possession better.
The former Spurs manager told talkSPORT: “What they lack Tottenham, they lack people that can keep the ball.
“When you’re playing against 10 men and you’re 1-0 up, that was, no disrespect, in the middle of the park, they’ve got grafters, workers, they give absolutely everything.
“But they lack that quality to just keep the ball, make that other team use that extra man. They haven’t got a Luka Modric.
“Listen, if he doesn’t sign his contract at Real Madrid, what a player he’d be for two seasons for you.
“He’s fit as a fiddle, never misses a game, you take him all day long.
“Put him in there and he could run the game. He’s a fantastic footballer.”
Spurs Web Opinion
There is no doubt that Modric would add a lot to the Spurs squad, even as just a squad player as he could be brought on for the final 30 minutes to help keep possession of the ball if we are in the lead.
However, if he does leave Madrid, perhaps the midfielder might prefer to see out the final year or two of his career in the MLS or opt for one final big payday in the Middle East.
