Journalist Dean Jones has suggested that it is not a case of Mauricio Pochettino waiting for Real Madrid to come calling but rather that Daniel Levy is not particularly enthused about the idea of bringing the Argentine back to Tottenham.
Tottenham have gone through a torrid time since Pochettino was sacked by the club three and a half years ago, with the North Londoners now on the lookout for their fourth permanent head coach since then.

Spurs fans have certainly made their voices heard regarding who they want to replace Antonio Conte, with chants of ‘Mauricio Pochettino, he’s magic you know’ echoing around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on multiple occasions during the clash against Brighton on Saturday (Football.London).
The Athletic reported last week that while the 51-year-old would be ready to return to N17, the Lilywhites have simply not reached out to their former manager yet.
Jones has now suggested that Levy is not as keen on the idea of rehiring Pochettino as he was previously.
The journalist told GiveMeSport: “I wouldn’t say Pochettino is more likely to go to Real Madrid, but I would just say he’s open-minded about how this could play out.
“I know people like to think that Pochettino is turning down Tottenham because he wants Real Madrid, but that’s not strictly true.
“Daniel Levy is not as hot as he was on Pochettino. It’s as simple as that.”

It is clear that Nagelsmann is Tottenham’s top target but one would expect the club to be making contingency plans as there is a good chance that the German would be out of our reach.
Perhaps, Daniel Levy, out of respect for Pochettiino, does not want to approach the Argentine unless the club’s hierarchy decide that he is their top target.
