Following Tottenham’s defeat at home to Bournemouth, Sky Sports’ top four predictor gives Cristian Stellini’s men just a 6 per cent chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
Tottenham had a golden chance to move level on points with Newcastle United with a win over Bournemouth after the Magpies had fallen to a 3-0 loss at Villa Park on Saturday.
However, the Lilywhites spurned that chance as they delivered another underwhelming performance at home and found themselves on the wrong side of a 3-2 loss, courtesy of Dango Ouattara’s stoppage-time winner.
With Manchester United overcoming Nottingham Forest 2-0 on Sunday, the Red Devils have built a near unassailable lead over Spurs, currently sitting six points ahead with a game in hand.
Sky Sports have now given Man Utd a 92 per cent chance of finishing in the top four and Newcastle a 84 per cent chance.
Curiously, even Liverpool and Brighton have been given better odds of qualifying for the Champions League than Spurs have.
Top 4 predictor (%)
Arsenal – 100%
Man City – 100%
Newcastle – 84%
Man United – 92%
Tottenham – 6%
Aston Villa 0.7%
Brighton – 10%
Liverpool – 7% pic.twitter.com/pjZzh3ytTv— Sky Sports Premier League (@SkySportsPL) April 16, 2023
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham certainly do not deserve to finish in the top four, given how poorly we have played for the majority of the season.
While we are still not out of the race since we have to play both Newcastle and Man Utd, even the most optimistic of Spurs fans would not fancy our chances of finishing above one of those two sides.
