Tottenham’s rumoured managerial target, Oliver Glasner, has said that he expects to remain at Eintracht Frankfurt next season.
Glasner’s stock grew considerably on the back of Frankfurt’s showing last season, with the Austrian leading the club to Europa League glory.
Some reports over recent weeks had indicated that he is on Tottenham’s wishlist to take over from Antonio Conte at the end of the season (Fabrizio Romano –YouTube channel).
The 48-year-old is also thought to be in consideration for the Chelsea hot seat (Bild) while several German outlets have reported recently that he is expected to leave Deutsche Bank Park this summer as Frankfurt’s attempts to tie him down have been unsuccessful (Sky Germany).
However, Eintracht’s recent form has left a lot to be desired, with the club having won just one of their last 10 matches.
In light of the Bundesliga side’s struggles, Glasner has now suggested that he expects to remain at the club next season.
He told German broadcaster ZDF (as relayed by ESPN reporter Derek Rae): “I assume I’ll still be sitting on the bench here next season.”
Spurs Web Opinion
This statement is far from definitive and I do suspect that the Austrian will leave Frankfurt to join a bigger club in the summer.
However, I do not think there is any chance of him being considered for the Spurs job.
Even if he was initially on the North London club’s shortlist, the Premier League side would have likely reconsidered in light of Eintracht’s struggles over the last month and a half.
