Reported Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Noah Okafor has suffered a season-ending injury while playing for RB Salzburg which could see him out for up to three months.
Okafor has been catching the eye for the Austrian side since joining in the summer of 2020. He has amassed 34 goals and 23 assists for Salzburg in 100 appearances (Transfermarkt).

His impressive form had seen the 22-year-old linked with various big clubs in Europe over the last couple of months, including Tottenham (Salzburger Nachrichten).
According to Il Mattino, both Newcastle United and Arsenal were prepared to battle Spurs for the attacker’s signature in the summer and it appeared his club were ready to let Okafor move on.
Salzburg director Christoph Freund had already admitted Okafor was ready for the next step in his career and the club were bracing themselves for his departure in the summer (Sky Germany).
Unfortunately for Okafor, any big move is now likely to be put on hold as he has a long road to recovery ahead of him.
Speaking to Sky Sports Austria, Freund confirmed the injury: “Obviously that’s not ideal. Noah was repeatedly handicapped with minor injuries, he’s not really in shape now.
“He still had big plans for the final of the championship, which is of course bitter.
“Some clubs are still interested because of course they’ve been following him for a long time.
“He had surgery today; everything went well and we hope he’ll be back in two to three months.”

What a shame for the player, as it looks likely top clubs will be deterred from signing him in the summer given his current injury and his previous fitness issues.
There is no doubt Okafor is a top player, but Spurs should be very wary going in for him this summer. We should wait until he can prove he has recovered fully.
