ESPN have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur do not want to miss out on Feyenoord boss Arne Slot, who is now emerging as a ‘serious contender’ to replace Antonio Conte.

While it has been widely reported that Julian Nagelsmann is now Tottenham’s top target and the North London club have initiated dialogue with the German (CaughtOffside), contradictory reports have emerged recently on who the North London club’s fallback option is likely to be.

The Independent reported last week that Spurs are expected to move for Slot if a deal for Nagelsmann falls through while Calciomercato.it claimed a couple of days ago that Luis Enrique is the other leading name on the club’s wishlist.

Meanwhile, Journalist Sacha Tavolieri said recently that Vincent Kompany’s representatives also remain in dialogue with Spurs, with Daniel Levy said to be a fan of the Belgian.

ESPN have now played up the chances of Slot taking over at Tottenham by stating that the Dutchman is emerging as a ‘serious contender’ alongside Nagelsmann.

The publication claims that Spurs do not want to make the same mistake that they did in 2021 by passing up on Erik Ten Hag due to the former Ajax’s boss lack of experience in a top league.

The report asserts that Slot’s name is on Tottenham’s reduced shortlist alongside Nagelsmann and ‘one other unidentified candidate’.

I initially thought Enrique would be the man Tottenham turn to if Nagelsmann cannot be convinced to take the job but with Paratici no longer at the helm, I believe that the Spaniard’s chances have now dwindled.

I still think the Spurs hierarchy might prefer Kompany over Slot as the Burnley boss is a charismatic figure who can unite the dressing room and he understands English football well.
