Tottenham Hotspur have released a statement after Heung-min Son was the victim of an alleged racist incident during yesterday’s match against Crystal Palace.
Photos have surfaced on social media which appear to show a make in the away end of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium making a racist gesture towards the Tottenham Hotspur player during the Premier League fixture.
A statement on the club’s official website read: “We are aware of an allegation of racial abuse towards Heung-Min Son during yesterday’s match.
“Discrimination of any kind is abhorrent and has no place in society, our game and at our Club.
“We are working with Met Police and Crystal Palace to investigate and identify the individual involved.
“We will do everything in our powers to ensure that if found guilty, the individual will receive the strongest possible action – as was the case earlier this season when Son suffered similar racial abuse at Chelsea.”
Earlier this year, a Chelsea supporter was given a stadium ban for racially abusing Son at Stamford Bridge when the South Korean went to take a corner during a 2-2 draw (Evening Standard).
Thomas Burchell, 30, was charged with a racially aggravated public order offence and was fined £726 at the City of London Magistrates’ Court while also receiving an order banning him from attending live football games for three years.

More has to be done to stamp out racism not only in football but also in our society. Son has been the victim of racism for many years from opposition supporters and it is completely unacceptable.
