The Daily Mail have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are confident they are unlikely to face competition from rival clubs for Julian Nagelsmann this summer.
The report backs up some of the details emanating from Germany over the last week by suggesting that while Spurs have held ‘exploratory talks’ with Nagelsmann, the 35-year-old first wants to see who is appointed as the club’s next sporting director.

He is also said to want assurances regarding the level of control he would have over Tottenham’s recruitment before seriously considering the club’s proposal.
The Mail claim that despite Spurs’ insistence that there is no leading candidate for the role, Nagelsmann is the number one contender to replace Antonio Conte as things stand.
The report states that there is ‘a confidence’ at Tottenham that they would have a clear run at the former Bayern Munich boss and are unlikely to face any competition from rival clubs.
It is explained that Nagelsmann would only be an outsider for the Real Madrid job if Carlo Ancelotti leaves his position this summer.
The German coach is also said to be open to the idea of managing in the Premier League, with the Spurs vacancy likely to be the best available job in England.

Based on the various reports over the last week, it appears as though Tottenham have temporarily paused their managerial search to appoint a sporting director first.
That strikes me as a good move but if the Spurs hierarchy take too long to find a replacement for Paratici, they run the risk of allowing another club to swoop for Nagelsmann.
