Arne Slot’s agent Rafaela Pimenta has held talks with Tottenham Hotspur and informed the club that he wishes to join the Premier League side this summer, according to Dutch news outlet De Telegraaf.

Slot has caught the eye after an impressive season at Feyenoord where he lead them to the Eredivisie title, having lost just one league match all season.

The 44-year-old earns around £1.7million a year at Feyenoord and would likely be in line for a significant pay rise if he were to be offered the vacant head coach position in N17 and would likely cost around £6million to release him from his current contract.

Tottenham are seeking a new manager following Antonio Conte’s departure in late March which came after his brutally honest comments about his players after they threw away a 3-1 advantage to draw 3-3 at Southampton.

Feyenoord general manager Dennis te Kloese confirmed at the weekend that Tottenham are yet to make a formal approach for Slot and would expect the manager to inform him if he has any desire to leave De Kuip this summer.

Te Klose told ESPN: “[Slot] still has a contract for two years. That has been said before and we have not been approached by any club.

“It is up to Arne to say something about that [his future]. But for us there is no ambiguity about it. We assume that he will remain the trainer of Feyenoord.

“He has a contract for two more years and this summer there is no release-clause in his contract, so we can say no if we want. And we have quite a good story here as well. Champions League next year, a lot of new players were signed last summer and they proved real good players in this team and their contracts also run for quite some years to come. So we have something here to look forward to.”

Pimenta is to hold talks with Te Kloese on Wednesday, when the agent could make the situation around Slot’s future more clear.

Slot now appears to be the frontrunner to replace Antonio Conte with Julian Nagelsmann seemingly out of the picture and talk surrounding Luis Enrique not as loud as the speculation involving the Feyenoord boss.

It is unlikely that Tottenham will confirm anything prior to Sunday’s match at Leeds United which looks to be Ryan Mason‘s last in charge after he has only managed to win one of his four matches since replacing Cristian Stellini.

Spurs go into their match at Leeds knowing that they must rely on Aston Villa to lose at Brighton and the north Londoners needing to take all three points to secure Europa Conference League qualification.
