Alan Shearer has admitted that if he was in Harry Kane’s shoes this summer, he would assess the various offers that come his way during the transfer window.

The topic of Harry Kane‘s future looks set to dominate the headlines for a while to come, given that the striker does not appear close to putting pen to paper on a new contract at Tottenham as things stand.

However, the 29-year-old has repeatedly said that he will have a talk with Daniel Levy this summer to give his input on what needs to change at the club in order for them to get back to where they were a few years ago (Evening Standard).

That is something Spurs fans can perhaps take optimism from as those are not words one would expect to hear from a player who has made up his mind to leave.

Besides, sources continue to state that Tottenham remain determined to keep Kane at the club and have no intention of selling him to a Premier League rival (Fabrizio Romano – GiveMeSport).

However, Alan Shearer believes that the time has come for the England captain to leave his boyhood club, insisting that no Spurs fan would begrudge him a big move.

The Newcastle legend told Match of the Day (20/05/23 – as relayed by The Metro): “If it was me, personally, in his (Kane’s) situation now – yeah, I would look at my options.

“He has been so loyal to Tottenham and so brilliant for Tottenham.

“I don’t think any Tottenham fan could complain if he said: ‘Look, I’ve done my time and I have got to look elsewhere’.”

Spurs Web Opinion

This is surprising coming from Shearer, given that he has insisted that he does not regret his decision to remain at Newcastle and snub Man Utd’s approach during his playing days.

Cynics would say that he has now changed his tune as he now sees a move to Newcastle as a potential option for Kane this summer.
