Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as their new head coach from Celtic on four-year contract.
The 57-year-old moves to north London on the back of delivering a record-breaking eighth domestic treble to the Scottish side at the weekend following their 3-1 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Tottenham have been on the lookout for a replacement for Antonio Conte who left by mutual consent at the end of March in the wake of his brutally honest comments about his Spurs players after they threw away a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3 at Southampton.
Daniel Levy initially gave his assistant Cristian Stellini the reigns until the end of the campaign, but managed just one win in four Premier League games in charge before being dismissed with Ryan Mason returning as interim boss for a second time.
A number of other names had been linked with the post with Fulham’s Marco Silva and the former Spain coach Luis Enrique also said to have been on the club’s shortlist but have instead decided to entrust Postecoglou to take charge (Telegraph).
Postecoglou takes charge of Tottenham at a key time with the club not competing in European football next season for the first time in over a decade while there is plenty of speculation surrounding star striker Harry Kane’s future.

Tottenham decided to pass up opportunities to speak with Mauricio Pochettino and Julian Nageslmann to instead opt for Postecoglou to be given the huge task of turning around the club’s fortunes.
A massive rebuild is needed, along with the appointment of a new sporting director. Hopefully, this will be a decision that proves to be wise and not only Nuno-type hire which lasts just months.
