Atletico Madrid have chosen not to offer a new deal to Matt Doherty, with the former Tottenham man now a free agent, The Sun have revealed.
Doherty signed a six-month deal with Atletico Madrid in January after his contract at Tottenham was terminated by mutual consent.

The 31-year-old admitted that while the initial plan was for him to join the La Liga side on loan, the decision was made to terminate his contract once Spurs realised they were at the limit of the number of players they could loan out (The Independent).
The move to the Spanish capital has not worked out for the right-back, who has made just two appearances for Diego Simeone’s men in his five-month spell at the club.
Former Spurs star Matt Doherty is a free agent
Unsurprisingly, The Sun have now confirmed that the Republic of Ireland international has now been released by Atletico and is now free to look for a new club.
It was previously reported by 90 min back in April that the likes of Crystal Palace, Burnley and his former club, Wolves, were keeping an eye on Doherty’s situation.
Spurs Web Opinion
With Doherty now available on a free, I have no doubt that the 31-year-old will receive offers from several Premier League clubs this summer.
He could be of interest to teams such as Forest or Brentford, who like to set up with a back five frequently.
