But! Football Club have claimed that Lyon defender Castello Lukeba is unwilling to sign a new deal with the Ligue 1 club as he is aware that Tottenham are considering a move for him this summer.
Lukeba has come on leaps and bounds over the last couple of years since breaking into Lyon’s first team, having established himself as a mainstay in Laurent Blanc’s backline.
Tottenham’s interest in the 20-year-old first came to light just over a month ago when The Daily Mail reported that the Lilywhites had sent scouts to France to run the rule over the centre-back.
The report suggested that the North London club were yet to be fully convinced by the France Under-21 international at the time.
Lukeba stalling on new deal amid Spurs interest
However, if But! Football Club’s latest update is to be believed, Tottenham have already expressed an interest in signing Lukeba, with Ange Postecoglou’s men said to be leading the race for the defender’s signature along with Chelsea.
The report claims that amidst interest from the two London clubs, the Lyon man is reluctant to put pen to paper on a new deal at the Groupama Stadium.

Left-sided centre-backs are a rare commodity, which is why top clubs are likely to be circling around Lukeba.
If Spurs do not sign Lenglet permanently, they could perhaps look to sign two left centre-backs this summer.
In that scenario, the 20-year-old Lyon star could be an ideal understudy to someone like Laporte, Kilman or Guehi.
