Bristol City boss Nigel Pearson has insisted that he is not worried about the growing speculation over the future of rumoured Tottenham target Alex Scott.

Scott is seen by many as the best young talent in the EFL at the moment, with the midfielder going from strength to strength since first breaking into Bristol’s starting eleven two years ago.

The 19-year-old is thought to be on the radars of a whole host of Premier League clubs, including Spurs, with GiveMeSport reporting a couple of months ago that the Lilywhites have enquired about the teenager, who had also attracted the attention of Newcastle United, West Ham United and Wolves.

The Daily Mail reported on May 15 that Bristol have accepted that the England Under-20 international will leave the club to join a top-flight side in the summer and they value the starlet at £25m-£30m.

However, Pearson has now brushed aside concerns over Scott’s future, insisting that seeing his players linked with Premier League sides is confirmation of how well they have done at the Championship club.

Bristol City boss not worried about Alex Scott

When asked about the midfielder being linked with a move away from Aston Gate Stadium, the Robins boss said (via Bristol World): “You’ve got to have a pretty flexible perspective on what the transfer window can look like.

“Things can happen that you can’t really predict I suppose, and there will continue to be talk about some of our players leaving just because of how promising they are and how well they have done for us.

“I don’t worry about stuff like that because whatever people are talking about your players in a positive fashion, it means we are doing something right.

“We are producing good young players at the club, and we’re going to try and keep hold of them as long as we can because we want to be successful ourselves.

“Our best chance of keeping our best players is being successful.”

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt in my mind that Scott will be poached by a top-flight club this summer.

I actually think he is perfectly suited to playing as a number eight in Postecoglou’s system, with the Australian having a track record of bringing the best out of young players throughout his coaching career.
