Record Sport have claimed that Ange Postecoglou might be forced to accept that his assistant coaches at Celtic, John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan, will not join him at Tottenham.
We covered a report from Football Insider a couple of days ago which claimed that Postecoglou not only wants to offer key roles to Kennedy and Strachan, but also wants to bring Celtic analyst Greg Wallace to North London.
However, the publication added that the Bhoys are in no mood to let their former head coach poach their staff, and claimed that a clause in the Australian’s Hoops contract stops him from taking members of the club’s coaching team with him to his next club.
Spurs may have to pay compensation for Celtic pair
While Record Sport have not reported on the existence of any such clause in their latest update, they do make it clear that Celtic have ‘cold-shouldered’ the approaches from Spurs for both Kennedy and Strachan.
The report states while the two coaches want to follow Postecoglou to the Premier League club, Tottenham would have to thrash out compensation with the Glasgow giants to get the pair.
With that not having happened so far, it is said that the new Spurs head coach could be forced to move on unless he gets a quick resolution to the matter.
Spurs Web Opinion
Postecoglou has not tended to take his staff from one club to another in his managerial career so far. So, the Australian would be able to cope just fine without Kennedy and Strachan.
However, having said that, Tottenham have to give the 57-year-old the best chance of success, and if he is keen on bringing Kennedy and Strachan to N17, the club should do what is necessary to get the pair.
