The Daily Mail have revealed that the ticket sales for Tottenham’s pre-season friendly against West Ham United in Perth, Australia, have skyrocketed after the news of Ange Postecoglou’s arrival in North London.
72 days after Antonio Conte’s departure, Spurs confirmed last Tuesday that Postecoglou would be taking over as the new head coach after both Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason both had spells on an interim basis until the end of the season.
The move represents a massive change of direction for the Lilywhites, with the 57-year-old being almost the polar opposite of the Italian in his general nature as well as in his footballing philosophy.
While we are yet to see what kind of impact Postecoglou will have on the pitch, his appointment has seemingly already had a desirable one off it in his homeland.
Spurs ticket sales improve after Postecoglou appointment
The Mail reveal that the ticket sales for Tottenham’s pre-season clash against the Hammers at Optus Stadium, Perth on July 18, had been sluggish over the last few weeks, but officials have now noted a rapid spike after the arrival of the Australian coach in N17.
Following the clash in Australia, the Lilywhites will play Leicester City at the Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok, on Sunday 23 July before taking on AS Roma at the Singapore National Stadium on Wednesday, 26 July.
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham are pretty well supported Down Under but the fact that the game is in Perth, which is a long way away from the rest of Australia’s majority population and New Zealand, might have been the main reason why ticket sales had been sluggish.
Even if we do not get a full house at the Optus Stadium, there is no doubt that the Spurs fans would outnumber the West Ham supporters by some margin.
