Marca have claimed that Mexican side CF Monterrey are now in talks to try and sign Lucas Moura.
Moura’s five-and-a-half-year spell at Tottenham had a fairytale ending as he found the back of the net with his final kick of the ball in a Spurs shirt in the club’s 4-1 win over Leeds United in their final game of the 2022-23 season.
The Brazilian is now on the search for a new club and he admitted in an interview to AS last week that he has already received some offers but ruled out a return to his home country this summer.
Journalist Rudy Galetti then told GiveMeSport a few days ago that the 30-year-old could remain in the Premier League as Crystal Palace are keeping an eye on his situation.
Lucas Moura is subject of interest from Monterrey
However, if Marca’s latest update is to be believed, Moura could follow in Vincent Janssen’s footsteps by moving to Monterrey.
The Dutchman made the move to the Mexican side in 2019 following an ill-fated three-year stint in North London and it is alleged that the club have now set their signs on the former PSG man.
The report states that Monterrey are eyeing a title tilt in the upcoming season, which gets underway in just over two weeks, and see the Tottenham man as someone who can help them fulfil the objective.
The publication adds that officials from the club have travelled to Brazil over the last few days to meet Moura’s representatives but it is made clear that the winger also has other offers on the table.
Spurs Web Opinion
At 30 years of age, Moura can undoubtedly still play at the highest level as long as he can stay injury free.
I expect the Brazilian to sign for a club in one of the top five leagues unless he is seduced by a big-money offer from the Middle East or Major League Soccer.
