90 min have explained that Tottenham moved quickly so they could beat Inter Milan to the signing of Guglielmo Vicario, who was the Nerazzurri’s top goalkeeping target this summer.
It now appears only a matter of time before Vicario officially completes a move to Tottenham, with the Lilywhites thought to have agreed on a deal worth €19m (£16.3m) with Empoli for the goalkeeper (Fabrizio Romano).

Alasdair Gold explained via Football.London on Thursday that the likes of Inter Milan, Juventus, Napoli, Manchester United and Brighton had all previously shown interest in the 26-year-old.
Spurs had to move fast to win the race for Vicario
This information has now been backed up by 90 min, who now claim that ‘numerous’ Italian clubs had their eye on Vicario this summer.
The publication asserts that Inter were previously seen as the favourites to land the Empoli star, with Simone Inzaghi’s men said to have identified him as a potential replacement for Andre Onana if the Cameroonian left the San Siro this summer.
The report adds that Tottenham moved quickly to ‘find off the competition’ for Vicario’s services.

Tottenham have to be praised for their decisiveness as the club clearly did not want the David Raya negotiations to drag on all summer and end up missing out on Vicario, who by all accounts, appears set to evolve into the next big goalkeeping star in Italian football.
