The Telegraph have claimed that sources at Tottenham believe the club would be forced to cash in on Harry Kane if they receive an offer of around £80m from an overseas team.
Earlier today, The Athletic’s David Ornstein, suggested that Bayern Munich had launched an offer of €70m (£60.1m) plus add-ons for Kane.
Unsurprisingly, this bid was swiftly turned down, with CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs claiming that Daniel Levy is in no mood to sell Tottenham’s talisman and is unlikely to consider offers less than £100m for the player.
£80m could be enough for Bayern to get Harry Kane
However, if The Telegraph’s update is to be believed, some at the North London club believe that a bid of £80m plus add-ons from Bayern or any other overseas club might be enough to lure Kane out of Spurs.
It is explained that accepting such an offer from a foreign club would help Tottenham ward off the threat of the 29-year-old joining a Premier League rival on a free next year.
The Telegraph adds that Thomas Tuchel wanted to sign Kane when he was at Chelsea and is now pushing Bayern to pursue the Tottenham man.
Spurs Web Opinion
I believe that it would be a smart move for Tottenham to accept any bid of around £80m from Bayern for Kane.
Those funds can be used to rebuild the squad ahead of Postecoglou’s first season in charge.
One can also argue that the Australian’s system would function better with a striker who presses incessantly, which is not Kane’s biggest strength.
Selling him to Bayern is certainly a better alternative than allowing him to join a Premier League rival on a free transfer next summer.
