The Times have claimed that Harry Kane is ready to move to Bayern Munich this summer if the Bundesliga club are able to strike a deal with Tottenham.
Bayern reportedly saw their opening offer of £60m plus add-ons for Kane swiftly turned down by Spurs (Sky Sports) but it emerged on Wednesday that the Bavarians are expected to make an improved offer of £80m to test Daniel Levy’s resolve (Ben Jacobs).
We relayed a report from The Telegraph a couple of days ago which claimed that Tottenham could accept an offer of £80m from an overseas club for their talisman as it would ensure that the striker does not move to a Premier League rival on a free transfer next summer.
Bayern Munich will be back with another Kane bid
The Times have now also backed up Jacobs’ assertion by stating that Bayern are now ready to increase their bid for Kane.
The publication claims that sources at the Allianz Arena have stated they have an informal agreement with the England captain, who is said to be open to the transfer if an offer comes in that suits all parties.
It is explained that while Kane’s preference would be to remain in England, his priority is to challenge for trophies, which is why he is willing to make the switch to the German club.
Spurs Web Opinion
The Spurs fans who want Kane to stay are thinking emotionally rather than rationally.
While I too would love to see the striker don our colours for one more season, we would be in a much worse place if he joined a Premier League rival on a free transfer next summer.
There is no doubt that the smart play for Tottenham is to sell the striker to Bayern and use the funds to rebuild the squad to suit Postecoglou’s style of play.
While we would obviously miss Kane’s goals, we have enough goal threats in the former of Son, Richarlison, Maddison and Kulusevski (and any new attacking signing) to not worry about where the goals are going to come from.
