The Evening Standard have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur want at least £100m if they are to sell Harry Kane with Bayern Munich preparing an improved offer for the striker.
Yesterday, we relayed an update from Ben Jacobs, who claimed that Bayern are ready to test Daniel Levy‘s resolve with an improved £80m offer for Kane after seeing their opening bid turned down.
The Telegraph had previously claimed on Tuesday that Spurs could be tempted to accept an offer of £80m for their star striker from an overseas club since it would allow them to prevent the 29-year-old from joining a Premier League rival on a free transfer next summer when his contract expires.
Spurs want at least £100m to sell Harry Kane
Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is said to consider Kane as the perfect replacement for Robert Lewandowski who joined Barcelona last year and are yet to replace the Polish international.
The report explains that while the Bavarian club are planning to make an increased offer, they are not willing to pay more than €100m (£86m) for the England captain.
The publication adds that Kane is said to be willing to move to the Allianz Arena if the two clubs can agree on a deal.
Speaking back in March, Levy made it clear he was hopeful Kane would remain at Tottenham as he told the Cambridge Union, Levy claimed: “He can absolutely win a trophy at Spurs. But being a legend is also important. The fact that he’s top scorer of Tottenham Hotspur – he’s making history. I hope one day that there is a statue of Harry Kane outside our stadium.
“Am I happy we haven’t won more than one trophy in the past 15 years? Absolutely not. But I also think we’ve had some fantastic times and been in the Champions League a number of times.
“Despite the fact I feel sick there’s another club in north London [Arsenal that’s a bit higher than us at this moment in time, if I look back over the past five years, we’ve also been above them – so, it’s what happens.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I think it would be irresponsible of Tottenham not to seriously consider any offer above £80m for Kane as I simply do not see him signing a new contract even if we show signs of promise under Ange Postecoglou next season.
The big question is whether this is the summer when Kane moves on, and whether Daniel Levy decides now is the time when he lets the club’s record goalscorer, with 280 goals in 435 games, leave. How do you replace such an important player?
The smartest idea for the North London club would be to cash in on the striker and use the funds to rebuild the squad. I have a feeling that Levy will soften his chance regarding the asking price over the coming weeks with a transfer to Bayern Munich for Harry Kane looking like the lesser of two evils for Spurs, or risk him facing them in the Premier League next season.
