Tottenham Hotspur begin their first day of pre-season training tomorrow under new head coach Ange Postecoglou and one player has taken to social media to hint that he is returning to London just in time.
Sergio Reguilon found himself out of favour under Antonio Conte ahead of the last campaign and found himself having been loaned back to his homeland for a frustrating spell at Atletico Madrid.
The left-back took to his Instagram story (30/6) to post a photo of himself at an airport preparing to fly back to London which contained the caption ‘London’ along with emojis of a football and the Union Jack flag.
Reguilon heading back to Spurs for pre-season training
The 26-year-old’s future back in the capital could be short-lived with The Athletic reporting earlier this week that Postecoglou is looking to trim his first-team squad with Reguilon expected to be one of those who head out of the door along with the likes of Hugo Lloris, Japhet Tanganga, Davinson Sanchez, Joe Rodon and Harry Winks is said to be on the verge of a move to Leicester City.
Postecoglou will welcome the first batch of players which will consist of those who have not been involved in recent international duty with their respective nations.
Estadio Deportivo previously reported that La Liga outfit Osasuna could offer Reguilon another opportunity to return to his homeland as he looks to get his career back on track.
Only two of his 11 La Liga appearances last season came as a starter, while his sole outing in the Copa del Rey was from the bench having struggled with illness and injury (transfermarkt).
The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare said about Reguilon during an appearance on the Last Word on Spurs earlier this month: “Perisic I wouldn’t be surprised if he moved on and Reguilon is free to go more or less. Look the line from Spurs and from Postecoglou is that everyone will arrive with a clean slate and they will look at them, but my sense is that Reguilon and Perisic are more likely to move on than the others,”

Reguilon will be a number of players who will be ticking the box by heading back to Tottenham while they wait for a club to come in and take their services elsewhere.
Tottenham have already invested in Destiny Udogie who looks to be given the opportunity to earn a place in Postecoglou’s plans while Reguilon and Ivan Perisic are likely to be the two who head out.
Ryan Sessegnon is another who has failed to show consistency when playing week in, week out and his hamstring issues seem to plague him from progressing. It begs the question of whether Postecoglou could end up with Ben Davies providing cover for Udogie on the left side.
