Destiny Udogie’s agent, Stefano Antonelli, has revealed that while several Serie A clubs have asked to sign his client on loan, Tottenham expect the left-back to play a prominent role under Ange Postecoglou next season.
Udogie is set to link up with his Tottenham teammates a year since signing for the North London club and the 20-year-old will hope to make a good impression on Postecoglou during pre-season.
There is perhaps a question mark over whether he is a good fit for the Australian’s system, with the Italy Under-21 international having played almost exclusively as a wing-back in his two seasons with Udinese’s first-team.
Udogie has been promised a chance at Tottenham
However, Antonelli has now asserted that the new Tottenham head coach is convinced that Udogie can play in a 4-3-3.
He also revealed that despite the youngster attracting interest from some Serie A clubs, the Lilywhites plan on taking him on the pre-season tour to Asia and Australia with the rest of the squad.
Antonelli told Sky Sport Italia (as relayed by Football Italia): “Udogie’s situation is clear.
“He is a Tottenham player and we had contact over the last few days because they changed management and the coach will play 4-3-3 rather than 3-5-2.”
“Postecoglu is absolutely convinced that Udogie will have space, but the Italian clubs are calling because some feel he needs another step before making the move, perhaps in a top club like Juve, Milan or Inter.
“I received a call from the Tottenham technical area today and asked us to confirm the plan, which is to go on tour in Thailand.
“They guarantee the importance of the player as of today, and we will evaluate everything, but he is a Tottenham player.”

It sounds like Postecoglou likes Udogie but will only make a final decision on the 20-year-old after taking a close look at him during pre-season.
The Italian looks quite well-rounded and I believe he would be able to adapt to the demands of the inverted full-back role.
I expect him to compete with Ben Davies for the left-back spot next season.
