According to Milliyet, Tottenham Hotspur have submitted a substantial part-exchange offer to sign Victor Nelsson and Nicolo Zaniolo in a double deal from Galatasaray.
Over recent weeks, multiple Turkish outlets have talked up the chances of Nelsson moving to Tottenham, with Hurriyet even claiming on June 20 that the centre-back had asked Galatasaray to accept the €22m (£18.8m) offer made by the North London club.
Meanwhile, Turkish journalist Nevzat Dindar claimed last week that Spurs were at the front of the queue to snap up Zaniolo this summer (Milliyet via Sport Witness).
Spurs submit double bid for Zaniolo and Nelsson
If Milliyet‘s latest update is to be believed, Galatasaray vice-president Erden Timur has travelled to London to speak to Tottenham about Zaniolo and Nelsson.
It is alleged that Timur asked Spurs to pay a combined fee of €60m (£51.5m) for the centre-back and the winger.
Instead, the Lilywhites reportedly proposed a ‘crazy offer’ which includes two to three of their own players plus €30m-€35m (£25.7m-£30m) for the duo.
The publication does not mention which of their players Tottenham offered but it is revealed that the bid was not enough to please Galatasaray.
However, the report adds that talks are still ongoing between the two clubs for Nelsson and Zaniolo, with Timur keen to take ‘concrete steps’ to cash in on the pair.
Spurs Web Opinion
It stands to reason that Tottenham would propose part-exchange deals, given that they have to clear out a lot of their deadwood but not a lot of clubs around Europe have much money to throw around at the moment.
While I do think Zaniolo would tick several boxes for Postecoglou as he can cover for Kulusevski on the right while also being able to operate as a number eight, I am sceptical if the Italian remains a target for the North London club following Paratici’s and Conte’s departure.
