According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Ivan Perisic is set to terminate his contract with Tottenham Hotspur so that he can return to Croatia and join Hajduk Split.
Perisic signed for Tottenham on a free transfer just a year ago, after his contract with Inter Milan came to an end.
It was hoped that a reunion with Antonio Conte could bring out the best in the Croatian.
Things didn’t quite go to plan for Perisic, or Spurs in general last term. Though the 34-year-old contributed 12 assists across the campaign (Transfermarkt) many expected more from the experienced star.
With Conte now gone, it has been heavily suggested that Perisic will look for his own exit out of North London this summer.
It appears the club and Ange Postecoglou are happy to let him go, too (Football.London).
Perisic has been attracting interest from a whole host of clubs, including Fenerbahce and clubs from Saudi Arabia (Ben Jacobs – Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel).
Ivan Perisic’s contract could be terminated
Despite the interest in Perisic, a transfer is thought to be difficult due to the player’s salary demands.
With this in mind, Tottenham are reportedly looking into a mutual termination of Perisic’s contract, to allow him to move more easily and reduce the wage budget at the club (Fanatik).
Now, the latest update from Gianluca Di Marzio corroborates this notion.
The journalist tweeted: “Ivan Perisic is close to returning to Croatia with Hajduk. He should terminate his contract with Tottenham soon in order to complete the move.”

Spurs Web Opinion
Ivan Perisic clearly has no future at Tottenham and doesn’t want to be here.
We should do whatever it takes to get him out of the club as soon as possible and save on the wages he is paid.
It’s a shame, but things just never worked out for Perisic at Spurs.
