Alasdair Gold has revealed via Football.London that Ange Postecoglou has made a ‘very strong and clear impression’ on the Tottenham squad during the first few days of pre-season training.
With the bulk of the Tottenham squad, who were involved in international fixtures last month, set to report to pre-season training on June 12, Postecoglou is now working with a smaller group of non-international players and youngsters from the academy.
Gold explains that the Australian has wasted no time in beginning to drill his ‘relentless attacking and pressing’ approach into the players on the training pitches at Hotspur Way.
The players are impressed with Postecoglou so far
The journalist states that the early impression Postecoglou has made on the players is positive, with many said to be impressed with the new Spurs head coach’s style of communication.
The 56-year-old is thought to prefer a storytelling approach while communicating, which is said to have made a mark on the squad, who have been left in no doubt as to what their new gaffer expects of them.
Gold adds that the Spurs players are excited by what Postecoglou has told them regarding the style of football he wants the side to play next season.
Spurs Web Opinion
After a few years of working on defensive shape and repetitive drills under Conte and Mourinho, the players would, no doubt, be enjoying the chance to express themselves a bit more under Postecoglou.
There was almost a fear of failure involved with Mourinho and Conte, whose philosophy revolves around making as few mistakes as possible.
That is in stark contrast with Postecoglou, who asks his players to be brave and not worry about making errors.
