Simon Jordan has said that Bayern Munich would have to ‘move heaven and earth’ to get Harry Kane out of Tottenham this summer, with the North London club seeing the striker as being pivotal to their top-four hopes next season.
We relayed a report from SportBild a couple of days ago which claimed that Daniel Levy was far from pleased by the fact that Bayern met with Kane without Tottenham’s approval to convince the striker to make the move to the Allianz Arena.
The report alleged that the Spurs chairman is determined to make the Bundesliga club ‘bleed’ and that he could even refuse to sell the centre-forward, citing the German club’s behaviour.
However, Jordan believes that Levy does not have a right to be aggrieved, insisting that Spurs themselves have tapped up players in the past, including one of his own former players in Wayne Routledge.
When asked about Levy being upset by Bayern’s tactics, the former Crystal Palace owner told talkSPORT: “In the real world, it happens all the time. If Daniel is upset, then I would remind him of how he did it to me with Wayne Routledge.
“But the bottom line is that I would be surprised if it hasn’t happened and I am pretty sure Daniel will be surprised if it hasn’t happened, whether he likes it or not.
“Oh, yeah. I would think so. It’s not a secret meeting because it’s all over the national newspapers, but I would imagine that happened.
“I would imagine, if a manager like Tuchel wants to get a player like Harry Kane, then he would have no compunction.”
However, Joran insisted that it would not be easy for Bayern to get their hands on the England captain this summer unless they break the bank.
He continued: “I think they have to move heaven and earth if they think they will get Harry Kane for £80-100 million, then I don’t think so.
“It’s predicated upon having had certain conversations with Daniel Levy, but also looking at it through the prism of what the worth Harry Kane is to Tottenham if the main pursuit is the top four.”
Spurs Web Opinion
We know that clubs talk to players’ representatives all the time before officially making an approach for a transfer.
In fact, Tottenham themselves have seemingly done this with other players this window.
So, Jordan is right in saying that Levy does not have a right to be aggrieved that Tuchel has spoken to Kane.
However, at the same time, it is in Bayern’s best interest to behave respectfully and not get on Levy’s nerves as the Spurs chairman can be quite stubborn.
He is not one to roll over if he feels he or his club are being taken advantage of.
