Alasdair Gold has shared a detailed update on the situation regarding Harry Kane’s future at Tottenham Hotspur, and suggested that the player is in ‘no rush’ to sign a new contract.

While most Tottenham fans love talking about Harry Kane, it’s likely that most supporters are wishing the striker’s future in North London was not such a hot topic right now. 

Kane has now entered the final year of his current contract with Spurs and there are plenty of rumours that the marksman is reluctant to sign a new deal, meaning he could either be sold this summer, or leave for nothing next year.

Bayern Munich have been chasing the England captain all summer and while their first bid for the player was rejected, it has been claimed the German side have returned with an improved offer of €70m plus add-ons (Florian Plettenberg). 

Kane is looking at the big picture

There is no word yet as to whether Daniel Levy will accept that offer, or any offer, for that matter. However, one way or another, the situation needs to be resolved.

Now, Alasdair Gold has taken to YouTube to share what he knows when it comes to Kane’s mindset and the chances of signing a new contract at Spurs.

He said: “When it comes to [Harry] Kane, we still await to see exactly what’s going to happen with him. The suggestion that I’m getting is that certainly, Spurs have offered him the opportunity to discuss a big new deal at the club to stay beyond 2024.

“From what I understand from the player’s point of view, there’s no rush right now to commit, certainly during this transfer window. Essentially, he’s got to assess the big picture and what the future holds.

“That’s many things; what are the club going to do in the transfer market, are they going to seriously give him a chance to win trophies? Is [Ange] Postecoglou exactly what he needs right now? Does his system work with him?

“You would hope that the way Postecoglou has been with the other players and the impression they’ve got from him and that he will impress Kane as well when they talk next week.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I can’t see Kane signing a new contract this summer. He will likely wait out the transfer window, see if a move comes to fruition, and if not, he will then see how things play out under Postecoglou for the first half of the season.

Once we get to January, Kane will know if he is going to be successful with Spurs, and if not, he will begin speaking to clubs in other countries and will be able to agree a lucrative pre-contract deal.
