Tottenham Hotspur are set to take on Barcelona in a pre-season match on August 9 just before the new Premier League campaign kicks off (Tot Costa).
Barcelona are taking part in a pre-season tour across America, while Spurs are set to fly out to Australia in the next week, but it appears the two will meet next month.

Spurs vs Barcelona for the Joan Gamper Trophy
The Lilywhites and the Catalan giants will fight it out for the Joan Gamper Trophy, which is a traditional curtain-raiser for Barcelona’s new season.
It comes just a few days before La Liga and the Premier League kick-off for the new season.
The Joan Gamper Trophy was founded in 1966 after founding Barcelona member, Joan Gamper. Originally, it was contested between four teams, but switched to a two-team format in 1997.
Tottenham have not yet officially confirmed the friendly, but reports from Spain claim that Spurs have been selected as this year’s opponents for Barca.

Spurs Web Opinion:
It seems strange to have a pre-season friendly three days or so before the season kicks off.
You would assume that no manager would want to play their first XI in that kind of match.
Perhaps once the official date is confirmed, it may be a few days earlier than expected.
