Tottenham Hotspur could be set to replace Ivan Perisic with Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella this summer, and Ange Postecoglou has big plans for the defender if he signs him.

Perisic arrived at Tottenham on a free transfer last summer, but has not enjoyed the best of spells with the North Lindon club. 

The Croatian was initially brought in to team up with his former manager, Antonio Conte. The Italian left the club in March, however, and now it seems Perisic wants to head for the exit doors, too.

Reports suggest that Perisic would like to leave Spurs, and that the club and Ange Postecoglou are not about to stand in his way (Football.London).

The latest update on the 34-year-old came from Gianluca Di Marzio, who claimed Perisic’s contract will be terminated so the player can return to Croatia with Hajduk Split. 

Spurs are looking at Marc Cucurella

If Perisic does indeed depart this summer, it seems Spurs may look to London rivals Chelsea for his replacement. 

That’s according to Football Transfers, who claim Marc Cucurella is a wanted man, with Postecoglou keen to add the Spanish left-back to his squad. 

It is believed Tottenham are “closely following” the 24-year-old’s transfer status this summer after it has been suggested Chelsea are “desperate to offload” Cucurella.

Apparently, Cucurella himself “wants to remain” with Chelsea, but it is thought a move to Spurs could be an “attractive exit” due to the club’s location and stature.

The twist in the tale is, Postecoglou doesn’t just like Cucurella as a left-back, but also believes the Spaniard could operate as an inverted full-back, thus allowing his midfielders more freedom to roam forward.

The report adds that it is “unclear” what price tag Chelsea would put on Cucurella.

Spurs Web Opinion

Cucurella is a quality player who has already shown his versatility by playing at centre-back for Chelsea. If he isn’t wanted by the Blues, we should snap him up.
