According to El Chiringuito (as translated by Sport Witness), Barcelona have given Clement Lenglet permission to skip the start of pre-season training as they look to offload the centre-back.
Reports from Spain continue to indicate that Barcelona remain hopeful of striking a deal with Tottenham for Lenglet, who spent last season on loan with the Premier League side.
The latest such update came from Sport, who revealed on Monday that conversations between Spurs and Barcelona about the Frenchman continued over the weekend, with both clubs being aware that they need to relax some of their demands for a deal to go through.
The publication added that the two clubs are working on a ‘definitive solution’, with the Tottenham hierachy not willing to pay over €10m (£8.5m) for the centre-back.
Lenglet return to Barcelona training delayed
If El Chiringuito’s latest update is to be believed, Lenglet was nowhere to be seen at the Barcelona training centre during the first day of pre-season on Monday.
The outlet states that the 27-year-old has been given permission by the club to stay away until July 18th in the hope that he would be able to seal an exit before then.
Lenglet could come up against his former team-mates when Tottenham face Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy on August 8th.
Spurs Web Opinion
If it is true that Barcelona have given permission for Lenglet to stay away from pre-season training, that suggests that the La Liga side believe that it could be a matter of time before the French international is heading out of the exit.
