According to Sport, Barcelona have set a deadline for the middle of next week for their negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur for Clement Lenglet.

The report states that the two clubs are still at loggerheads over the transfer fee, with Barca refusing to budge on their €15m (£12.8m) asking price for Lenglet.

However, it is alleged that Spurs do not want to pay more than €5m (£4.2m) for the Frenchman, with the North London club arguing that they deserve a discount on the fee since they are taking on the player’s high salary.

Barcelona want Clement Lenglet gone by next week

The publication adds that the two sides are remaining firm in their demands for the moment but the Catalan club will have to ‘give in’ at some point as they need to open up the space on the wage bill to make new signings.

The report adds that the reigning La Liga champions want the deal concluded before their squad flies out to the United States for pre-season in the middle of next week.

Barcelona are not in a strong position and have no choice but to eventually soften their demands as they are desperate to get Lenglet off their payroll.
