According to Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink, PSV Eindhoven will push ahead with a move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez, and will use the funds raised by selling Xavi Simons to make it happen.
It appears Davinson Sanchez‘s time at Tottenham has come to an end after almost six years at the club.
The Colombian was one of the players to suffer the most in a torrid season for Spurs last year, with a catalogue of errors at the back leading to some fans turning against him.
New Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is keen to have a clear out this summer (Telegraph) and it is widely believed that Sanchez will be one of the players to move on.
The 27-year-old has already been linked with a number of clubs during the current transfer window, including Spartak Moscow (Sport Express), Villarreal (Relevo), Galatasaray (Sporx), and PSV Eindhoven (Voetbal International).
PSV continue to pursue Davinson Sanchez
When it comes to PSV, it seems the Eredivisie club are doing all they can to bring Sanchez back to the Netherlands. The latest update on that situation comes from Elfrink, in an appearance on the Heet van de Herdgang podcast.
Elfrink said: “I think that PSV will continue to go for Davinson Sánchez. Peter Bosz knows him of course and I also think that they will use the proceeds of Xavi Simons, however limited they are, to make his arrival possible. At least that’s what I heard until recently.
“According to the agent of an Israeli player, an offer was also made [for Sanchez], but it was too low. PSV is therefore looking at alternatives.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It seems Davinson Sanchez has some decent propositions on the table this summer, and while they are mostly from clubs outside of Europe’s top five leagues, they are still top teams.
There is a very good chance Sanchez would be tempted by the return to Holland, a country he is very familiar with.
