Tottenham Hotspur ran away 5-1 winners in their second pre-season match against Lion City Sailors this afternoon, despite trailing the match for much of the first 45.
Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on in the second half:
Tottenham Hotspur second-half player ratings
Brandon Austin – 5 – I think he touched the ball once.
Emerson Royal – 6 – Looks more comfortable in this kind of inverted role than he does playing wing-back, but he does need to improve his passing in tight areas of the pitch.
Japhet Tanganga – 6 – Didn’t have a whole lot to do beyond passing around at the back and popping balls into the likes of Lo Celso.
Eric Dier – 6.5 – Made a few nice tackles after Spurs have the ball away in dangerous areas. You wonder whether he might be more at home in the defensive midfield role under Postecoglou.
Sergio Reguilon – 7 – Full of energy down the left side. You can never fault Reguilon’s effort levels. He was a constant threat with his crossing and went close with a driven, long-range shot.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 6 – Played the defensive midfield role in a half that didn’t involve much defending. Everything was neat and tidy as you would expect though.
Oliver Skipp – 6 – Made a bunch of attacking runs from midfield, but doesn’t quite have that natural flair in the final third to make the important pass/shot. I would rather see him as Bissouma’s backup in the defensive role.
Giovani Lo Celso – 8 – One of the best players for the second game in a row. Lo Celso was popping balls through the lines for fun, creating multiple clear chances for Spurs. Scored a goal of his own and made another.
Manor Solomon – 7.5 – Looked incredibly bright down the right side. He had the beating of his marker every single time. Smashed the post with a great effort. Really impressive stuff.
Richarlison – 9 – Not the best hat trick in the world, but Richarlison sniffed those chances out and put them away. Scored another two narrowly offside goals too. Looks really bright in his build-up play too. Promising signs for Richarlison.
Ivan Perisic – 7 – Has looked very effective in that front three role where he can make better use of his dangerous crossing. Will be interesting to see if Spurs keep him as an attacking impact sub this season.
