CalcioMercato.it have claimed that Chelsea could now be about to challenge Tottenham for the services of Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer.

Over recent weeks, various Italian outlets have talked up the chances of Tottenham making a move for Bremer this summer, with Il Bianconero even claiming on July 19 that Spurs are now at the front of the queue to snap up the Brazilian.

The outlet added that Juve are already planning for the 26-year-old’s departure, having identified Stuttgart’s Konstantinos Mavropanos and Southampton’s Armel Bella-Kotchap as potential replacements.

CM.it have now also backed up the claim about the Serie A giants being willing to cash in on Bremer for the right fee this summer.

They state, however, that it is not only Spurs who are eyeing the centre-back but also their London rivals Chelsea, who could ‘appear soon’ on the scene.

It is explained that the Blues are keen on strengthening at centre-back following the injury sustained by Wesley Fofana, and could thus turn their attention to the Juve star.

The report suggests that the Italian club would be willing to cash in on Bremer for a fee of around €50m (£43.2m).

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham are seemingly focused on signing a left centre-back for now, with Micky van de Ven and Edmond Taposba evidently being the club’s top targets.

The club might subsequently turn their attention to the right side of central defence but I suspect they will prefer a homegrown option such as Tosin Adarabioyo or Marc Guehi over Bremer.
