Sport have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have informed Barcelona they will enter the race for Franck Kessie soon.
Italian journalist Rudy Galetti claimed a couple of days ago amidst Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s proposed move to Atletico Madrid, Tottenham have identified Kessie as a potential replacement for the Dane.
Spurs have now ‘woken up’ in the race for Kessie
Tottenham’s interest in the Ivorian has now been backed up by Sport, who state that over the past few days, the North London club have told Barca that they could enter the race for the midfielder.
It is revealed that the Lilywhites plan on pressing ahead with a move for Kessie once Harry Kane departs the club. The report alleges that Spurs could come forward for the former AC Milan man as early as next week.
It is revealed that Barcelona have been in ‘tentative talks’ with Juventus over the 26-year-old during recent weeks but both the player and the Catalan club believe that a better offer could arrive from the Premier League.
Sport state that such a bid from England could soon materialise as Tottenham have now ‘woken up’.
Spurs Web Opinion
If Tottenham had identified Kessie as a target, I do not think the club would need to wait until Kane’s sale to push ahead with a move for the midfielder.
Given Barca’s desire to lower their wage bill, the Ivory Coast international will likely be available for a bargain price.
