Bayern Munich officials are set for ‘crucial’ discussions over a deal for Harry Kane today, and the German side are expected to improve their previous €80m (£68.5m) bid.

With Harry Kane now into the final 12 months of his contract, Tottenham face the prospect of losing their star striker for nothing next summer, unless they can either sell him this year or persuade him to commit to the club long term.

Spurs are seemingly doing all they can to achieve the latter, with chairman Daniel Levy believed to have put together a new contract worth around £400,000 a week for Kane (Telegraph).

Kane, however, is thought to be tempted by the interest from Bayern Munich. The German club have had two bids rejected for the striker so far this summer but remain confident they can secure a deal for the England captain in early August (Football Insider).

Over the weekend, the Telegraph claimed a breakthrough could happen this week, with Levy set to meet with Bayern chiefs to try and find some common ground on the matter.

Bayern Munich have an improved offer ready

We are now into what Fabrizio Romano describes as ‘crucial hours’ in the Harry Kane saga, as Bayern and Tottenham are to hold a meeting today, and the Bundesliga giants are prepared to improve their offer for the Spurs man.

Romano said: “Crucial hours for Harry Kane deal. Bayern officials are prepared for meeting in London with Daniel Levy as direct talks will take place with Tottenham. Bayern will offer more than last €80m package bid.”

Romano also quoted Bayern president Herbert Hainer, who recently stated: “We respect Daniel Levy as a professional.”

In a way, I hope this deal gets sorted out today or early this week so we can move on from it all. It seems inevitable that Kane will leave now, so it is best for all parties if we just get it wrapped up and find a replacement in time for the new season.
