Diego Simeone has kept his cards close to his chest when quizzed about Atletico Madrid’s pursuit of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
It has been reported by multiple outlets over the past few weeks that Tottenham are open to cashing in on Hojbjerg, who is not seen as a good fit for Ange Postecoglou’s style of play, with Atletico thought to be at the front of the queue to snap up the midfielder (Daily Mail).

Some sources have also indicated that the Dane is keen to wrap up a switch to Madrid where he would be able to play Champions League football and has reportedly asked Tottenham to lower their transfer demands (Mundo Deportivo).
However, Atletico’s offer of €20m (£17.15m) for Hojbjerg is thought to have been rejected by Spurs (Matteo Moretto), and reports indicate that there is still quite a ‘gulf’ in the respective valuations of the two clubs (Ben Jacobs).
Simeone keeps lips sealed on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Simeone has now simply stated that the final decision on the Tottenham man will be made by the Atletico hierarchy.
When asked about his side’s pursuit of Hojbjerg, the Argentine coach simply responded (via AS): “There are names with which the club works to favor the need-obligation situation. The club will decide.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I would be surprised if Tottenham accepted anything less than £30m for Hojbjerg. So, we can expect these negotiations to potentially drag on until the final week or two of the transfer window.
