The Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor believes that both Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele will remain at Tottenham.
Over the last few weeks, there has been plenty of speculation linking Lo Celso with a move away from Tottenham, with the likes of Real Betis (Fabrizio Romano), Barcelona (Sport), Napoli (CalcioMercato) and Aston Villa (Estadio Deportivo) credited with an interest in the midfielder.
However, the Argentine has been one of Spurs’ standout performers in the two pre-season friendlies so far, and Ange Postecoglou admitted following the win over Lion City Sailors that he ‘likes’ the 27-year-old, adding that he fits the way he wants his side to play (Football.London).
Meanwhile, Ndombele has been linked with a move to Galatasaray, with Turkish journalist Ertan Suzgun claiming two weeks ago that the Istanbul club had launched an offer of £7m for the former Lyon man, which was knocked back by Spurs.
Ndombele and Lo Celso both expected to stay at Spurs
Taylor believes that both Ndombele and Lo Celso will end up staying as they are more valuable as players to Spurs than the fee they may each fetch this summer.
The journalist told GiveMeSport about the midfield pair: “Both of these players need to stay fit. They’ve had so many problems with injuries that hampers what they can deliver to Tottenham.
“And I do think if they can get something from those players, I think it will be worth more to the club than any £20m transfer fee they would receive from a sale, which isn’t going to get Spurs too much more at the moment.
“So, I would keep both players, and it looks like Postecoglou will do that despite interest from elsewhere. I know Napoli are in for Lo Celso, and there’s interest from Turkey in Ndombele.”
Spurs Web Opinion
If Postecoglou decides to keep both Lo Celso and Ndombele, signing a replacement for Hojbjerg may not be a priority for Tottenham.
While the Australian evidently seems to rate the Argentine, it remains to be seen if the Frenchman has the engine necessary to play in the high-intensity style that the new Spurs boss demands.
