According to Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung (translated by Sport Witness), Wolfsburg have no intention of relaxing their demands for Micky van de Ven and are continuing to drive a hard bargain amidst Tottenham’s advances.

Multiple reports over the last 48 hours have claimed that Van de Ven is now on the verge of sealing a switch to Tottenham (Daily Mail).

However, this information was contradicted by Fabrizio Romano, who reported on Thursday that there is still a difference between Spurs’ and Wolfsburg’s valuation of the centre-back.

The journalist added that the Bundesliga club are demanding a total package of €50m (£43m) with easier add-ons for the 22-year-old.

Wolfsburg unrelenting in Van de Ven asking price

Romano’s claim has now been backed up by WAZ, who state that the German club have set a ‘hard and inflexible line’ in the negotiations over Van de Ven.

They state that despite the fact that Tottenham have been trying for weeks to lure the centre-back to England, the North London club have not matched Wolfsburg’s demands for the player.

It is claimed that the Lilywhites’ initial bid for Van de Ven is only worth around €30m (£25.8m), which the German side have no intention of accepting.

The Bundesliga club’s hierarchy are alleged to have made it clear to Spurs that the player will only be allowed to leave if their €50m (£43m) asking price is met, with Daniel Levy expected to make a decision ‘shortly’ on the matter.

This update seems to contradict what has been reported by various British outlets over the last 24 hours, many of whom are confident that it is only a matter of time before Van de Ven’s move to Spurs is made official. Perhaps we will have a little more clarity about where this move stands over the next day or two.
