Journalist Paul Brown has said that Harry Kane will not agitate for a move to Bayern Munich this summer, given the backlash he received when he tried to force a move to Manchester City two years ago.

After the Bayern hierarchy’s latest meeting with Daniel Levy earlier this week, it is thought there remained a gap of £25m in the two clubs’ valuations for the England captain (David Ornstein).

Bild reported this week that Kane is so keen to seal a switch to the Allianz Arena that he himself is willing to contribute to bridge the gap.

The publication asserted that the 30-year-old could give up a significant portion of his €24m (£20.6m) per season salary in order to make up the difference between Bayern and Tottenham’s valuations.

It was explained that the Bundesliga club would be able to compensate Kane with later payments in the form of various bonuses.

ESPN state that Bayern’s latest bid, placed after that meeting, has now reached over £100m if all add-ons come into play, while the German club are demanding an answer from Spurs today (Florian Plettenberg).

Harry Kane will not force through a Tottenham exit

However, Brown has explained that the timeline of the transfer is entirely dependent on Bayern as the Tottenham star will not try to force himself out of N17.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “The timing of Kane and the move is impossible to guess, but I think it’d be best for all parties if that is sorted as quickly as possible.

“A lot of it is in Bayern’s hands because I’m sure they know how high they’re going to have to go to get Harry Kane.

“It doesn’t look like he is going to agitate for a move. I think he remembers from before, when Manchester City came in, just how much of a backlash there was when it looked like he was trying to engineer that transfer.

“He then ended up having to come back and face the music. I don’t think he’s going to push like that again this summer, so it really comes down to how talks go between the clubs.”

I have no doubt that this transfer will go through eventually. I would not be surprised if there is a gentleman’s agreement between Levy and the Bayern hierarchy to publicly maintain that there is a difference between their respective valuations even though a deal is actually close.

That way Tottenham could spend the Kane money over the next few weeks before the striker’s move to the Allianz Stadium is made official. That was the same strategy that Levy employed during Bale’s sale to Real Madrid back in 2014.
