According to the print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (01/08/23 as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur are now ready to push ahead with a move for Lille’s Jonathan David if and when Harry Kane seals a switch to Bayern Munich.
Even though Bayern Munich have not yet met Tottenham’s valuation of Kane, reports indicate that the Bundesliga side are optimistic that they can strike a deal with the North London club for the England captain (Fabrizio Romano).
Bayern reportedly submitted a fresh bid of over £100m for Kane this week (ESPN), including potential add-ons, and the German club gave Spurs a deadline to accept or reject (Telegraph).

Tottenham have been linked with a whole host of potential replacements, including David, with journalist Rudy Galetti saying last week (GiveMeSport) that the Lilywhites had turned their attention to the Canadian striker, who found the back of the net 26 times across all competitions last season.
Galetti added that the Lille star is valued at €50m to €55m (£43.1m-£47.5m) and Spurs could now begin exploring the deal ‘in more detail’ over the coming days.
Spurs ready to move for Jonathan David if Kane goes
Gazzetta have now stated that Tottenham hold a ‘strong’ interest in David and are ‘ready to reinvest’ the money they receive for Kane in the Lille star.
However, the report asserts that Bayern would first need to finalise an agreement with Daniel Levy for the England captain before the Lilywhites decide to push ahead with a move for the former Gent man.

David is a perfect fit for Postecoglou’s style of play and has quite similar characteristics to Ricahrlison. I would be surprised if Ange prefers to sign the Canadian as Kane’s replacement over the likes of Dusan Vlahovic.
