Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to land transfer target Gift Orban from Gent for just £20m this summer, which is £3m less than the figure the Belgian club value their young striker at.

As things stand, Tottenham have a pretty impressive roster of attacking talent. With the likes of Harry Kane, Richarlison, Heung-min Son, Dejan Kulusevski, and Manor Solomon, you would be forgiven for thinking that Spurs don’t need any more forwards in their squad.

However, with the ongoing uncertainty regarding Kane’s future at the club, Spurs are identifying potential replacements for their star striker.

According to the Daily Mail, Gift Orban is one of three up-and-coming forwards that the Lilywhites are keen on.

The 21-year-old bagged a phenomenal 20 goals in 22 games for KAA Gent last season (Transfermarkt), having only joined the club in January of this year.

His prolific form has not only caught the eye of Tottenham, with scouts from Chelsea, Manchester United, and Fulham also thought to have been watching the youngster (Evening Standard).

Spurs want to pay £20m for Gift Orban

A report in The Times commenting on the Harry Kane saga touches on the interest Spurs hold for Gift Orban, and claims the North London side would be looking to pay £3m less than the price tag Gent have put on the wonderkid.

Apparently, Gent are keen to receive around £23 million for Orban, which would give them a huge profit on the £3m they paid for him at the start of the year.

However, Tottenham “think that a deal could be made for about £20m” and will look to cut a saving on the transfer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Whether we pay £20m or have to pay the £3m extra really does seem irrelevant in the grand scheme of things and I really hope we don’t end up missing out on Gift Orban over a few million quid. Either way, it could be a great deal for one of the most exciting strikers in Europe.
