Ange Postecoglou says he would not talk about players that are contracted to other clubs but insisted that he personally is not too bothered about Bayern Munich’s public approach for Kane.

Not only have Bayern officials made public statements about their pursuit of Kane, but the transfer saga has also been full of leaks right from the start, with the Bundesliga side’s each move being broadcast by German media.

On Friday, it emerged that Bayern had submitted a final take-it-or-leave-it €100m (£86.5m) offer for the England captain (Sky Sports), with the Bavarian club allegedly setting midnight on Friday as the deadline for the deal (Telegraph).

Ange Postecoglou wants Kane saga sorted soon

Postecoglou has now played down suggestions of any arbitrary deadline for the Kane saga, insisting  that he is dealing with developments as and when they happen.

When asked about Bayern wanting to get the deal done before a certain deadline, the Tottenham head coach told Football.London: “From my perspective, I don’t know what deadlines means. We know there’s one deadline and that’s the end of the transfer window. Beyond that, I’m in open dialogue with Harry and with the club on a regular basis.

“I’ve said to them that if the status quo changes then inform me. I don’t need to know about the comings and goings in between. I just want to deal with what’s in front of me because I’ve got to still, irrespective of the outcome of that, I’m building a team here.

“I can’t wait [around] for a decision either way to get going. We don’t have the time or the luxury to do that. I’m working with what’s in front of me. You saw today that Harry certainly is invested in what we’re doing and we’ll keep on doing that unless something changes.”

Postecoglou also aimed a subtle dig at Bayern for their tactics on the Kane deal, remarking that he would never discuss players who are contracted to other clubs.

When asked about the German side’s public approach, the 57-year-old responded: “I don’t have a view either way mate. That’s up to Bayern to decide.

“If that’s the way they want to conduct things, it’s not up to me to judge that. It doesn’t affect me. I don’t sit there on a daily basis and worry about what other clubs are doing.

“I think what is factual right now is that he is a contracted player of our football club. I certainly wouldn’t talk about contracted players at other football clubs but I’m not at Bayern mate so they can go the way they want.”

The notion of Bayern demanding that the deal be done within a stipulated deadline is quite ridiculous, especially given the sums involved and the fact that they are on deadline with Levy, who is happy to push things until late in the window in order to get the best deal.

However, Postecoglou would want this saga to come to a quick conclusion one way or the other so that he can start planning with clarity for the season ahead.
