Alejo Veliz has said in his first interview as a Tottenham player that he is prepared to give everything for the shirt if opportunities come his way.

Veliz has had a meteoric rise since breaking into Rosario Central’s starting eleven and the forward is now widely thought of as one of the most promising young players in Argentine football.

However, the 19-year-old now faces the difficult task of not only adapting to a new culture and style of play but also settling into the most difficult competition in world football.

The youngster will certainly have many challenges ahead of him but he admitted that his task of integrating into his new surroundings will be made easier by the fact that a couple of his compatriots, Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero are at the club.

Veliz said in his first interview with the club’s official website: “Potentially, it might be a little bit tough to settle into life over here, but I’m fortunate to have Gio and one or two of the lads here at the club who have already reassured me that all will be fine and who will be here alongside me offering their help and support for whatever I may need.

“The first thing that I’ll be doing is to check in with them to help me to get established here and feel fully settled in.

“The good thing is that I am a pretty open and friendly type of character and I always like to get on well with everyone, so I think that I will settle in very well here.”

Alejo Veliz promises to run through walls for Spurs

The teenager also remarked that he is someone who is willing to give his 100 per cent every single time he enters the field.

When asked about his style of play, the striker responded: “I’m very good in the air, but overall, I’m very passionate player who gives absolutely everything. I run for everything, and I never give up any pass as a lost cause. I’m going to give everything I can for this shirt.”

Argentine players, in general, have a lot of tenacity and passion, and Veliz certainly appears no different.

The fact that the 19-year-old talks about working hard and giving everything for the shirt is a promising sign, and Postecoglou might enjoy working with the youngster and moulding him into more of a finished product.
