Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur expect Gift Orban’s value to skyrocket over the next 12 months, which is why the North London club are keen on securing the striker’s services this summer.
Orban has set the Belgian top-flight alight since moving to Gent in January, with the centre-forward netting an astonishing 20 goals in 22 appearances in the second half of last season (Transfermarkt).
The 21-year-old’s displays at the Ghelamco Arena have seemingly bought him to the attention of Spurs, with Fabrizio Romano revealing on his YouTube channel over the weekend that the striker is really appreciated by Tottenham’s scouts.
Alasdair Gold also stated in his column on Football.London on Monday that Spurs have a ‘strong interest’ in the Nigerian, adding that the Lilywhites are likely to pursue a young striker of the Gent star’s profile with Harry Kane on the verge of joining Bayern Munich and set to travel for his medical today (Fabrizio Romano).
Tottenham expect Orban to explode this season
Tavolieri has now also reported on Tottenham’s interest in Orban, stating that the Premier League side are ready to pay €30m (£25.8m) for the striker this summer.
The journalist explains that Spurs believes that the young centre-forward could be worth double that in a year’s time, given the way he has exploded since his move to Belgium.
Tavolieri claims that Ange Postecoglou has already given the green light for Tottenham to pursue Orban but he adds that a move for the Gent star depended on Kane’s situation.

#Spurs could go as high as €30M (including bonuses) according to the latest oral discussions undertaken with their Belgian counterparts.

Spurs Web Opinion
I certainly see the logic in making bets on young, up-and-coming strikers like Veliz, Orban and Wahi, particularly given that Postecoglou enjoys working with youngsters.
The reality is that there are no guarantees that even established names such as Kolo Muani and Vlahovic would succeed at Spurs, which is why it might be riskier to spend the bulk of the Kane fee on just one striker.
