Ange Postecoglou has provided a team news update on Micky Van de Ven’s availability and Richarlison’s injury status.
Tottenham kick off their Premier League campaign at the Brentford Community Stadium on Sunday in some disarray after the build-up to the game has been overshadowed by Harry Kane’s move to Bayern Munich.
Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of the clash against Thomas Frank’s side.
Brentford dealt Spurs’ European aspirations a lethal blow back in May last season when they came from behind at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to beat Ryan Mason’s team 3-1, after who else but Kane had put the North Londoners ahead with a screamer from 30 yards out during the first half.

Postecoglou delivers Spurs team news update
He told Football London that Richarlison is expected to be fit for the clash, and there has never been any worry about that, despite the striker missing the game against Shakhtar Donetsk.
On Micky Van de Ven, Postecoglou added that the centre-back is available for selection, but not quite at the optimum fitness levels quite yet.
He said: “It’s good to get Micky in. He’s settled in well. It’s not as simple as him simply coming in and training with us, but he’s been bright in training.
“He’s had a pre-season with Wolfsburg but he hasn’t played 90 minutes yet. Fair to say that in terms of match conditioning, he’s not quite at the level yet but he’s definitely going to be available for selection this weekend.”

I expect Postecoglou may choose to throw Van de Ven in at the deep end on Sunday and just take him off at the hour mark. The other option would be starting with Ben Davies, who has partnered Cristian Romero multiple times in pre-season.
