Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur and Gent are now just a few million apart in their respective valuations of Gift Orban.
With Harry Kane having sealed his long-awaited move to Bayern Munich, the focus now shifts to who Tottenham replace the 30-year-old with.
It was reported by The Athletic on Saturday that rather than pursuing a big-name replacement for the England captain, Spurs could look to sign a couple of younger attackers to give Ange Postecoglou more options for his fluid frontline.
The report added that Orban is one of the players the club’s scouts have watched closely and there is a belief at the North London side that an offer of £20m plus add-ons would be enough to sign the Nigerian.
Tottenham’s offer just a few million short for Orban
Tavolieri has now taken to social media to reveal that talks about Orban are ongoing between Tottenham and Gent through intermediaries.
The journalist revealed that the Premier League side are willing to offer €27m (£23.3m) for the striker while the Belgian outfit are holding out for €30m (£25.9m).
Tavolieri added that a written offer from Spurs for the 21-year-old is expected to arrive soon.

By the sounds of it, this deal should be fairly straightforward to complete. However, Gent would be aware that Spurs now have quite a bit of money to spend, which is why they could potentially increase their asking price, particularly given the impressive start that Orban has had to the new season.
