Reports out of Italy are monitoring the situation regarding Hugo Lloris’ future very closely right now, and it appears Lazio will make another attempt to convince the Tottenham Hotspur player to join them by making contact with him today.

We have witnessed a rather drastic downfall for Hugo Lloris over the last year or two at Tottenham. A dismal campaign in 2022/23, littered with mistakes from the Frenchman, seemingly condemned his Spurs career.

With the arrival of Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli this summer, the Lilywhites have found a new number-one goalkeeper. The Italian featured prominently in pre-season and has started the first two games of the new Premier League campaign.

Lloris has also been replaced as the club captain, with Heung-min Son taking over the armband under Ange Postecoglou.

The 36-year-old has been widely expected to leave Tottenham this summer, but a move to Lazio fell through last week after Lloris was reportedly uncomfortable being back-up goalkeeper for the Italian side (L’Equipe).

Lazio will speak to Hugo Lloris again today

Now, it appears Lazio are going to make another attempt to convince Lloris to sign for them, with talks set to commence again today.

That’s according to the latest edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), with a report claiming the Serie A club are eager to find a new goalkeeper “immediately” to provide competition for their current first-choice, Ivan Provedel.

Apparently, Lazio will hold talks with Lloris again “today” but there is believed to be a very slim chance of an agreement being reached unless the French keeper accepts a back-up role.

This is corroborated by Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), with the outlet claiming a deal has already been struck between the two clubs on a free transfer. However, it is said that Lazio will quickly move on to other options if Lloris does not give them a positive answer today.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Hugo Lloris probably expected more offers this summer, and better ones at that, the sad reality is he has very few options on the table right now.

If he wants to remain in one of Europe’s top five leagues, and have a chance to play in the Champions League, the Lazio proposition is the way to go.
